Connor has had a busy year since the 2015 Golf Outing. He presented a check in the amount of $15,500 to Shriners Hospitals for Children Chicago from the 2015 Golf Outing! THANK YOU EVERYONE! This helped to launch to new Electronic Speech Therapy App for schools. There have been articles published regarding this app. One of the article is posted on this website.
Connor was honored to be one of the Children Ambassadors for the Chicago Hospital’s 90th. Anniversary Gala. The Gala was held at the beautiful Chicago Cultural Center. It was a great “black tie” evening for Connor, Kelly & Kurt. They met other Patients, Families of Patients, Shriners and even Governor Rauner. Connor spent much of the evening with Rachel Solar, also a patient at the Chicago Hospital. We will have the honor of Rachel speaking at the post golf dinner.
Christmas Cards from Shriners Hospitals for Children-Chicago were sent with a picture of Connor and Eleanor Baran. Connor a Craniofacial patient (Cleft Lip & Palate) and Eleanor an Orthopedic patient. (Picture insert)
In February, Connor underwent surgery to repair the gum-line-cleft. Dr. Patel harvested bone from Connor’s hip for the implant into his gum line. Tissue was also used to assist the cleft into his sinus area and some further repair to his palate. This was a major surgery that sidelined Connor for six weeks from activity. All aspects of the surgery were successful! Connor may have been sidelined from sporting and active activity, but within four days was back to his routine and his infectious smile was back. Connor wants everyone to know how well prepared he was by Dr. Patel, Dr. Grudd, Miss Gwen and the rest of the doctors, nurses and staff. Recovery was of lightening speed! Connor did miss baseball season due to surgery, but is keeping busy on the golf course and will be playing football in the fall.
In June Connor will be the “Prince” for the Illinois High School All-Star Shrine Game in Bloomington, IL at the Illinois Wesleyan University. This will be five days of festivities with the football players, coaches, a visit to the Chicago Hospital and the Football Game on Saturday, June 17, 2016. This is a great honor for Connor!
The last bit of current info is about Connor’s appearance. He has grown out his “crew cut” and now has longer hair. He also wears contacts much of the time. He is growing up!!!
